Royal Burgundy' is a great tree for smaller gardens as it has a rounded habit with slightly spreading branches. In spring its branches are smothered in small, pendent clusters of rose-pink, double flowers, that appear amongst the newly emerging foliage. This foliage is bronze to start with, but quickly turns to a deep reddish-purple. It even stays interesting during the winter months after all the leaves have fallen, with its peeling copper-red bark.
Can be grown in any soil type in sun or partial shade, in a exposed or sheltered spot.
